**UPDATE: 16th May 2012**

So after a lengthy time at the garage, the mini was returned to us safe and sound on Saturday evening. Unfortunately I have no interesting pictures of what has been done as all the work completed was mechanical. But nonetheless a lot of work was carried out to make sure the mini runs as smoothly as possible on it’s run from London to Brighton this weekend. The garage was kind enough to complete the work free of charge and a number of parts were also kindly donated by East Kent Components (I am still so gobsmacked at the good will of some people!). Considering I have very limited mechanical knowledge (OK none!) I figured it would just be easier to list stuff that has been done and parts that have been replaced.

Parts that were replaced (including but not limited to) were, Distributer cap, Coil and Cables. The mini had some rather dodgy electrics that have been fixed, the brakes were adjusted (as they were needed to be double pumped to stop!) and the suspension was adjusted (at a previous garage visit). After all the work was completed, the garage then completed a new MOT which the mini passed.

Unfortunately as I do not live local I was unable to join my parents as they ‘cruised’ around in the mini on Saturday evening (and most of Sunday). But they have informed me that the mini did not ‘conk out’ once on their journeys around thanet. They also managed to reach a speed of around 55-60mph, which for those of you that know the mini know that this is quite an achievement! Which also means that hopefully we won’t be bringing up the rear at Sunday’s run (even tho it isn’t a race!).

As far as I am aware, the mini was going to be revisiting the garage yesterday (haven’t spoken to my parents yet due to lost phone charger!) to have the final adjustments carried out, and any problems that were noticed in the last few days rectified, also a engine rain guard was due to be fitted, again those who know the mini know that this is extremely important. Otherwise if it rains on Sunday we won’t be driving anywhere!

This is all the information I am able to give at present, we are hoping to get some ideas for the mini’s exterior and interior at the mini run this weekend. I will be adding an update/photo’s of the mini run soon!
