About Ben

Even though Ben lived for only 19 short years he certainly enjoyed his time and lived his life to the full.

At a young age, Ben began to play football for both Ramsgate and Monkton Youth clubs for many years until he was around 14/15 years of age.

He also became a Holy Trinity cub scout at an early age and followed on to become both a sea scout and eventually an explorer. Even after he finished as an explorer he remained to help out with the leaders. He participated in many activities such a sailing, hiking, camping and canoeing.

Ben also became a member of Thanet Classic Car Club when he bought his mini, where he attended many events such as the Classic Car Christmas Cruise, you can see his attempt to decorate his mini below!

“I know, it was brilliant. Him and Russ turned up to decorate mini’s! I done mine so him and Russ disappeared, bought decorations and macdonalds, turned up early the next morning with a hangover, broken engine mount and 1 bit of tinsel with santa hat!!! Love him!!”  Oscar Austin Mini (facebook)

Ben was also a very conscientious and hard worker, and was up for work every morning at 5am, no matter what time he got to bed the night before, even if it was 12 or 1am. He was also always keen to help out any family members who were rennovating their homes, he was always clean and tidy and very knowledgeable in his field.

Even though Ben had many extra curricular activites and worked very long hours, he still had all the time in the world for friends and family. He was out every night, whether it was cruising in his mini with friends or on a night out at the weekend in one of his many favourite places (Ye Olde Charles, Cramptons, The Sovereign or The Royal).

He met an extraordinary number of people in his life due to his many hobbies, and I am so proud of him that every one of these people has only wonderful things to say about him, he had no enemies, only friends. I could not have asked for a better brother, he was so caring and protective of me and so much fun to be around, he even offered some sound advice on occasions that you wouldn’t have believed he was younger than me!
